I. Skill Anatomy:
1. Skill Types:
- Attack interrupts Feint;
- Parry reduces damage from Attack;
- Fient breaks Parry.
2. Attributes
- Internal Skill boosts damage of specific attribute skill-sets by 16% or 20% (this boost is not displayed in skill tooltip):
- Yang & Hard internal boosts Yang & Hard skill-sets damage by 20%, Tai Chi skill-sets by 16%;
- Yin & Soft internal boosts Yin & Soft skill-sets damage by 20%, Tai Chi skill-sets by 16%;
- Tai Chi internal boosts Tai Chi skill-sets damage by 20%, Yang & Hard and Yin & Soft skill-sets by 16%.
3. Skill Category:
- Martial skill (attack) has a chance to interrupt a Chi skill (spell).
4. Base Skill Damage:
- Yellow number is the base skill damage (including weapon base damage and weapon damage upgrades).
- Base damage growth is a fixed value and is equal to lv1 skill damage * modifier.
- Armors and weapons can have several upgrades to boost certain skill damage by 10% each (up to +40% damage, this boost is not displayed in skill tooltip).
5. Skill Bonus Damage:
- Skill may have boost from Brawn (red number), Dexterity (green number) or Breath (blue number); boost is not 1:1, it varies from 10% to 200% of attribute value.
- Skill can have boost from several stats.
- Weapon Manuals (acquired through Exploring Jianghu event) adds a bonus damage to any skill using specific weapon type, this boost is not affected by style damage boost, it provides up to 194 damage bonus (at lv10).
6. Damage Types:
- All skills do either external (physical) or internal (elemental) damage.
- External damage ignores internal defence, but can be reduced by External Skill Defense (1000 external defense gives around 7% external damage reduction). Gear and treasures can have upgrades to Ignore External Skill Defense.
- Internal damage ignores external defense, but can be reduced by Internal Skill Defence (100 internal resistance = 10% internal damage reduction);
- Each internal damage element is reduced by both general Internal Skill Defence (from active internal skill) and specific element resistance (from related meridian and treasures).
- Certain Meridians give attribute to Ignore Internal Skill Defence.
- Damage elements are following:
- Internal damage - Yang, hHardness, Yin, Softness;
- External damage - External.
- When you hover mouse over the skill - tooltip description will say something like: "Infilcts (584-600) points Yin damage, total o 2 hits, about 448 points per hit..." - that's where you can check what type of damage skill does (external or internal);
- If skill does not have damage numbers in tooltip - character stats 'External Skill Hit Rate' and 'Internal Skill Hit' keeps the name of the last NPC hit by the external/internal type damage - just attack a different NPC and check it (hover mouse over the hit rate stat in character window).
- Damage over Time (DoT) never misses, never crits and cannot be blocked, but is reduced by either External Skill Defense or Internal Skill Defence.
7. Control Types:
- Charge skills lock the target unable to move or act during the skill animation; pull, throw, knock down and knock air skills will lock the target unable to move or act during the effect duration; all these skills will interrupt the current target action/skill, unless it has a yellow buff (which grants immunity to them).
- Stun skills will interrupt current target action/skill and make it unable to move or act during the effect duration, stun will ignore yellow immunity buff, but red buff is immune to stun effect.
- Paralyze skills will make target unable to move.
II. Skill Styles:
- Using skill from a specific style will apply a global 7s cooldown to skills from all other styles (unless you have a Sunflower Manual Internal Skill).
- To get the first school skill-set must join the school.
- To get the second school skill-set must finish school and main story quests and be at least lv5 1st school Internal.
- To get the third school skill-set must be lv10 1st school Internal.
- To get the fourth school skill-set must be rank of 3rd school internal lv20 and farm the school instance (skill-set is exclusive to the school).
- Sect skillsets level is limited to lv5 during 1st and 2nd internal stage, lv7 during the 3rd internal stage, lv9 during the 4th internal stage and lv11 during the 5th internal stage (current stage).
- Other sect skillsets can be learned up to lvl 5.
- Faction skillsets can be learned up to lvl 10.
- Jianghu skillsets can be learned up to lvl 8.
- Ancient and Cash Shop skillsets can be learned up to lvl 8.
- Ancient and Cash Shop skillset attribute can be changed via Fire Ice Wine.
